How to apply

Nomination procedures

Many national scholarships and prestigious fellowships require University nomination or endorsement in order to apply. In these cases, ONSA establishes a campus deadline that is several weeks or months in advance of the submission deadline posted by the awarding organization’s website. The tables below list the fellowships that have a preliminary campus deadline, as well as major programs that do not have a preliminary deadline.

Students or recent graduates who seek nomination for any of these awards should attend an information session and schedule an individual meeting with the appropriate ONSA advisor. Students who enter the nomination pipeline for these awards will be added to a Canvas platform with specific guidance and instruction on the application processes.

The following national scholarship and fellowships require ASU endorsement (click on the fellowship for application instructions):

Direct application procedures

In addition, ONSA maintains significant resources for the following major awards that do not require nomination. Students who intend to apply for the following awards should work with ONSA advisors to prepare their applications. ONSA recommends that students begin working on their applications 6-8 weeks BEFORE the deadlines listed below. This allows students to receive multiple rounds of feedback on their essays and prepare their application. It also provides faculty and staff adequate time to write letters of recommendation.
